Microsoft and NVIDIA announced a combined investment of up to $15 billion in Anthropic — up to $10 billion from NVIDIA and up to $5 billion from Microsoft — alongside Anthropic's commitment to purchase $30 billion of compute from Microsoft Azure and to adopt NVIDIA's latest chip generation. Claude thereby became the only frontier model available across all three major clouds: Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. That Microsoft, having poured money into OpenAI, would also back Anthropic and sell a rival's model on its own cloud marked the shift in AI industry alliances from exclusive to overlapping. The investment valued Anthropic at around $350 billion.
