GPT-3 arrives on Azure and enters enterprise procurement

On 2 November, Microsoft announced Azure OpenAI Service, offering GPT-3 and other models under Azure's governance and security. It opened a route for industries that could not contract with OpenAI directly, and for companies whose rules kept them off outside APIs.

The partnership that began with the 2019 investment now had something to sell.

    Microsoft announces Azure OpenAI Service

At its Ignite conference, Microsoft announced the Azure OpenAI Service, offering OpenAI's GPT-3 family of models through Azure. The service combined the models with Azure's enterprise capabilities such as security, compliance, and data privacy, and initially launched invitation-only for customers with well-defined use cases. It also included content filtering and moderation features to guard against harmful use. It put OpenAI's models on sale to enterprises as a Microsoft cloud product.
