Anthropic released Claude Haiku 4.5, matching the coding performance of Claude Sonnet 4 from five months earlier at a third of the cost and more than twice the speed, and beating Sonnet 4 on some tasks including computer use. On agentic coding evaluations it reached about 90% of the performance of Sonnet 4.5, released two weeks prior, while running four to five times faster at a fraction of the cost. Pricing was $1 and $5 per million input and output tokens. The release illustrated how quickly capability that had been frontier-grade half a year earlier was arriving in the smallest, cheapest tier.
