OpenAI released an improved version of OpenAI Codex, its AI system that translates natural language into code, through its API in private beta. A descendant of GPT-3, Codex was trained on natural language and billions of lines of source code including public GitHub repositories, and powers GitHub Copilot, launched the previous month. Most capable in Python and proficient in more than a dozen languages including JavaScript and Go, it enabled building natural language interfaces that drive software through English commands.
